Valley Aquatic Club

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—At the Coast and Valley Swimming Association (CVSA) Winter Championships, the Valley Aquatic Club came home with 74 medals and four district records broken, what a result! With 42 swimmers taking part in the meet, it was the largest and most successful team the club had ever sent to the championships. The most prominent member of the events was Charlie Potts, who broke the CVSA records for 13 years boys 200m backstroke, 100m individual medley, 100m backstroke and the 50m backstroke. Charlie Potts is a proud member of the Valley Aquatic Club. The club is greatly supported by the Maitland Aquatic Centre and its squad program, with many hours committed to the team. The Valley Aquatic team collectively won 26 gold medals, 24 silver medals and 24 bronze medals in the event. The result of their hard work, with the team starting training at 5am and sometimes ending at 5pm. From this hard work the 42 swimmers competed in 274 individual swims, with 238 of those swims being personal bests for the swimmers and 34 of those events being new Valley Aquatic records. Congratulations to the club and all the swimmers on your results.
