SEAN MYCHAEL

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads) - Sean Mychael's significant contributions and commitment to the Maitland community have been acknowledged with a NSW Government Community Service Award. Sean runs a local service called Blade Mate Lawn Care. After driving past a local residence and seeing their yard a little out of control, he decided to stop and ask the resident what was going on for them. He found that the home owner was struggling with her health and could not dedicate any time or money to keeping her yard maintained. From this one conversation—through simply checking in with a person rather than judging them—he dedicated himself to helping those in a tough position by offering yard maintenance when people cannot do it for themselves. This dedication to members of the community through purely pro bono support saw Sean nominated for the award by one of his 100,000 YouTube followers. Sean is an Australian Army veteran and speaks regularly about his struggles with mental health. This has been a particular driver in his motivation to stop and have a conversation with people and offer support wherever and however he is able. I acknowledge Sean's significant contribution to the Maitland community.
