Neil Cromarty OAM Recognised with NSW Community Service Award
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—There is little that defines the fabric of Australia better than our willingness to salute those who served in our armed forces in active service or who were impacted by the service of another. Neil, a veteran of Vietnam, joined the East Maitland Sub-Branch of the RSL and served as sub-branch secretary from 1997 for over 23 years. He continues to serve as the Welfare Officer. Neil's efforts have been integral to the successful operation of the sub-branch including securing grants to improve facilities, organising Anzac and Remembrance Day ceremonies. His service as Welfare Officer was especially vital role during COVID-19 when our veteran community was so fragmented and isolated. Neil is a dedicated volunteer for the Royal Newcastle Aero Club, advocating for upgrades and assistance. I was thrilled to present Neil recently a NSW Government Community Service Award in recognition of his significant contribution to the community over such an extended period. Congratulations and well done.
