MAITLAND REPERTORY THEATRE
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Congratulations to Maitland Repertory Theatre on their most recent production, Dorothy in Wonderland. Maitland Repertory Theatre provides an environment for age-specific groups to train in the dramatic arts and perform on stage. This production features Maitland Repertory Theatre junior actors Hayley Bolam, Lilah McAlpine, Ava Geering, Gillis Kelly and Torah Hulbert as well as an ensemble cast. The production was directed by Rhiannon McDonald and her team who pulled together two casts of talented and enthusiastic actors as part of delivering a junior production. The play Dorothy in Wonderland written by Brian Taylor fuses the story of the Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland, a careful adaption of the works of L. Frank Baum and Lewis Carroll for the Maitland Repertory Theatre. The adapted story sees Dorothy's friends try to help her find her way home, meeting many interesting characters along the way, including Alice, the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, March Hare, the Cheshire Cat and many more. They face a dangerous new foe, the Queen of Hearts. Dorothy and Alice team up to defeat the queen at croquet and return Wonderland to normal. Congratulations to all involved in this fantastic production.
