MAITLAND POLOCROSSE CLUB
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)— Congratulations to Maitland Polocrosse Club on the success of their recent Polocrosse Carnival. After a few years of covid related interruptions the club held a very competitive and well attended Carnival. Teams came from across the state with the men's A grade final played between Bunnan and Inverell and the women's between Bunnan and Quirindi and the competition went down to the wire, such a fabulous display of all that this Australian born sport has to offer. Congratulations to the Maitland women's c grade on their finals performance. Polocrosse originated in NSW in 1939, often referred to as rugby on horseback. Polocrosse is now played in New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, the United States, the UK, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the sport is played by players aged from 5 to 80 years, something very few sports can claim. Congratulations to all involved in the Maitland carnival. The Maitland club is 66th years old and is in safe hands with the committee and dedicated team of volunteers putting on a wonderful event. It's not every sporting event where the food on offer includes lamb shanks and sticky date pudding but it sure was a crowd pleaser.
