Maitland Physio Teams Win National Titles

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Tracey Tighe started teaching Physical culture to a group of Maitland girls in 2018. In just five short years two of her teams have recently topped the national titles. The BJP annual competition was held at Sydney Olympic Park last November and was a chance for teams to compete against others from across the country. The Maitland 7-8 year olds team and the 11-12 year olds team both took out the top prize for their respective divisions at the event. Ms Tighe said that teams work for a year before the competition to perfect the routine transitions and timings. Ms Tighe says the team's commitment and hard work really paid off at the competition. Physical Culture or "Physie" is a team based sport where participants perform synchronised low impact dance and aerobic routines. The sport is designed to increase strength, fitness and flexibility. Congratulations to all the team members for their dedication, commitment, and hard work in achieving their physie goals.
