HELEN STUCKINGS – NOMINEE FOR LOCAL WOMAN OF THE YEAR

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Helen Stuckings has run her own hairdressing business in Maitland for 37 years, training over 50 apprentices, she loves seeing her apprentices grow and following their hairdressing journeys. This passion for the next generation of hairdressers has also seen her judge world skills at TAFE. Helen donates her time at Maitland United Church's MUNCH program which provided meal support for disadvantaged people in Maitland. Helen is also a talented singer bringing joy to the community singing at local service clubs including Senior Citizens, Probus Clubs, View Clubs, Lions Clubs, local nursing homes, over 55's villages and at World Vision Events. Through her business Helen generously sponsors local sporting clubs including soccer, netball, football and futsal, is a drop off point for the Hope in a Suitcase Foundation supporting foster children and has mentored local school students. Helen was recently nominated as Maitland Local Woman of the Year. It is testament to the high esteem in which she is held, and the recognition of her efforts to help others in the Maitland Community.
