Fire and Rescue Station Open Day

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—A big thank you to our Fire and Rescue officers across Maitland who opened up their doors last Saturday. Fire and Rescue Open Days are a great opportunity for locals to pop in and meet the firefighters who keep our community safe. It's a chance to see first-hand that our local firefighters are everyday heroes who put service above self, often in dangerous situations, to help others and protect our community. Fire and Rescue NSW Station 374 Maitland, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 382 Morpeth, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 373 East Maitland and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 455 Rutherford all welcomed the next generation of Fireman Sam's or Firefighter Penny's. The annual day is not only an opportunity to meet the firefighters, but visitors were also able to explore the equipment, and learn important safety tips. I really enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with the crew from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 374. On behalf of those that attended the stations across Maitland, thank you.
