DILLON RINN – 50KM FOR 50 DAYS FOR BEYOND BLUE

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Local legend Dillon Rinn set himself a massive task earlier this year, he was determined to run 50km per day for 50 days to raise funds and awareness for Beyond Blue. When I joined him at McKeachies Sports Ground in Aberglasslyn early in the morning on Tuesday 14th February, to talk about this massive achievement, Dillon had already notched up 30 laps! He still kept a cracking pace up as we walked around the oval together. Not only was it Valentines Day, but it was also Dillon's birthday, and it was great to hear from him about his passion for helping those who are struggling with depression, and his decision to raise awareness and much needed funds for Beyond Blue. Dillon's journey ended on Sunday 19 February at Maitland Athletics Centre, and I joined the crowd of locals who came to cheer him home. Dillon along with Vicki Mendyk from UMatter and Maitland Region Suicide Prevention Network are doing great things in our community to help people who are struggling with their mental health. Thank you Dillon for your amazing efforts in running 2,500km to raise awareness for this important cause.
