Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland) (16:47): I congratulate Kevin Short on the publication of his recent book,Elections from the inside looking out. This work is an incredibly informative and interesting insider's view of our electoral process. I first met Kevin Short when I ran for local government in 2008. His 33‑year career with the Australian Electoral Commission was one of integrity. Electoral integrity is critical to our democracy, and I know that under Kevin's management we saw that writ large. As a contributor to the clubs and associations of Maitland such as Maitland Hockey, Maitland Freemasons, the Maitland & District Historical Society and many others, Kevin has always acted with integrity and a deep commitment to our community. He has also been an incredibly hard worker. I thank Kevin on behalf of all of our community for sharing his insights in his book and for his incredible contribution over more than three decades to our community, ensuring that we are able to exercise our democratic rights at our elections.
