Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland) (23:56): I acknowledge the Federal member for Paterson, Meryl Swanson. The first female Federal member for the seat of Paterson, Meryl was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and re-elected in 2019. Meryl is a passionate, dedicated representative and a strong advocate for our communities. She has worked hard to represent the diverse communities of the Paterson electorate, which includes five State electorates and four LGAs. It did not take long for Meryl's talents to be recognised in Canberra, with her promotion to the role of shadow Assistant Minister for Defence in 2020. I have worked very closely with Meryl in helping our communities, and I look forward to continuing to work with her for many years to come.
