Community Recognition Notice - Star Struck

23 June 2022

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland)—Congratulations to all the performers, directors and others who participated in Star Struck 2022 - it was truly Iconic! Star Struck is a performing arts extravaganza presented by Newcastle, The Hunter and Central Coast areas of the NSW Department of Education. In line with this year's theme (Iconic) the students took the audience on an epic journey of music representing iconic musicals, singing legends, fashion and fun. Star Struck is an important rite of passage for thousands of Hunter youngsters over the past three decades, and celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. Rehearsals have been underway for months for the performing arts extravaganza, which was held at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre. Whilst affected by Covid in recent times, the talented pupils were keen to return to the stage again and the show was wonderful! Students from thirteen primary and high schools from the Maitland electorate participated, including Ashtonfield Public, Bolwarra Public, Francis Greenway High, Gillieston Public, Hunter River Community School, Maitland Grossman High, Maitland High, Maitland Public, Morpeth Public, Rutherford Technology High, Telarah Public, Thornton Public and Woodberry Public. Well done to all the students, their teachers and parents and carers who supported them to get there!
