Community Recognition Notice - Shirley Layton : CWA East Maitland Stawlart

18 May 2022

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland)—I acknowledge Mrs Shirley Layton, from the East Maitland branch, for her dedication, friendship and commitment over three decades to helping others in the Country Women's Association of NSW [CWA NSW]. Shirley has been a member of the organisation for almost 33 years. Mrs Layton is still a regular at both monthly meetings and craft/friendship days. Whenever a function is staged, Shirley is one of the first to offer her services. She has also been a welcome support to all newcomers, sharing her wide knowledge of protocols and procedures as well as assisting others with their handicraft. Shirley's friendship is recognised by members in the way they return their friendship to her. Even at the spritely age of 95, Mrs Layton continues to make items for the CWA to sell at their Market Days to raise money. Shirley has been a very much valued as a member of the East Maitland branch and it is wonderful to celebrate her contribution in this Centenary year for the CWA.
