Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland)—I would like to acknowledge Ian Powell, who recently received a National Medal with the NSW Rural Fire Service [NSW RFS], following 19 years of service with the Lower Hunter organisation. A member of the Bolwarra-Largs Brigade, Ian has assisted at major incidents both locally and with strike teams for bushfires, flood and storm damage throughout the state. His contribution has also helped the brigade in maintaining a current level of activity. Ian is a dedicated member who assists not only at an operational level, but with fundraising and community events as well. He has held positions of vice-president, assistant secretary and first aid officer. Previously, he served our country with the Royal Australian Air Force [RAAF] for nine years from 1977. Ian is a worthy recipient of the NSW RFS National Medal.
