Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland)—The Hunter Valley is home to a new national champion after Beresfield boxer Dan Murray recently captured the Australian super middleweight title in Canberra. The owner of C&D's MMA Boxing Fitness slugged it out with local hero Brian Roberts over the full 10 three-minute round contest at the Hellenic Club Woden in the ACT. In the end, Dan secured a unanimous points decision from the judges. Twelve months earlier, he won the NSW super middleweight (76kg) belt, too. With the support of wife Jen and gorgeous daughters Abbey and Olivia, Dan only returned to the sport in 2019 after a lengthy hiatus – and has made every post a winner since. A tremendous role model, he's also passionate about helping youngsters throughout the community at his gym, claiming they actually "lit the fire in his belly to fight again". I'd like to congratulate Dan on his terrific achievement.
