Christine Walmsley

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Roads, and Minister for Regional Transport)—Congratulations to 2025 Maitland Local Woman of the Year finalist, Christine Walmsley. With a remarkable 40‑year career in teaching, including 17 years as a Primary School Principal, Chris has made an incredible impact on our local community. Her dedication to education has extended beyond the classroom, as she has mentored local high school students and volunteered at the Maitland Regional Art Gallery. In 2018, she was awarded a City of Maitland Service Award in recognition of her unwavering commitment to the community. Chris joined Rotary in 2004 and has wholeheartedly embraced its ethos, taking on numerous leadership roles. Between 2020 and 2023, she served as Area Governor for District 9670, overseeing 14 Rotary Clubs in the Maitland and Lower Hunter area. Currently, Chris is the President of the Rotary Club of Maitland Sunrise, and has been a key member of the organising committee for the Rotary Golf Days, which support the Maitland HealthStays Accommodation project. In 2023 and 2024, Chris worked with local agencies to coordinate the March Against Domestic Violence in Maitland. Chris's tireless dedication to our community truly makes her a remarkable individual.
