Tickets Now Available for Maitland Woman of the Year 2025 Award Night

In just under a month’s time, on Friday 7th March, the Women’s Network Hunter NSW will celebrate the Maitland Local Woman of the Year Awards as part of International Women’s Day. The event which is sponsored by Member for Maitland, the Hon Jenny Aitchison MP is an opportunity to recognise local women who have provided significant service to our local community.

Now in its 11th year, Local Women of the Year are chosen by Members of Parliament, one from each electorate across NSW, to be recognised for their outstanding contribution to their local community as businesswomen, role models, volunteers, leaders and mentors. Previous winners of the Local Woman of the Year include: Samantha Meyn, Michelle Davis OAM, Yvette Cavanagh, Pennie Kearney, Naomi Rees, Amorelle Dempster, Tara Dever, Karen Stackman, Melita Chilcott, Barbara Heckman, Lyn Dark and Evelyn Stonham. A number of the previous winners of the award have gone on to win or be nominated in other Maitland Citizenship Awards, including Amorelle Dempster and Melita Chilcott.

“The award is about recognising every day, women of all ages, professions and backgrounds across Maitland making immense and valuable contributions to our community, of which Maitland has many”, says Ms Aitchison.

“In 2024, we celebrated Evelyn Stonham as Maitland's Woman of the Year for her dedication to football in Maitland and the greater Hunter region over 40 years. Her recognition highlighted the profound impact one woman can have on our community."

Vice President of the Women’s Network, Clr Race Barstow, said, "the 2024 awards dinner was a testament to the incredible women in our region. All 13 nominees were honoured for their contributions, showcasing the depth of talent and commitment within Maitland.  This year's event promises to be equally inspiring, as we come together to celebrate the achievements of women who have made a difference in Maitland.”

The event will take place on Friday, 7 March 2025, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, at the Easts Leisure and Golf Club. Tickets are limited and are open to everyone to attend.  Tickets can be purchased online at Sticky Tickets.
